Guys, it’s the end of the moth/road for that Immacula thingy I do every January.
For the most part, things went swimmingly. It wasn’t as perspective shifting as last year, but it set some pretty good discipline… and (again) made me realize how easy it is to waste hours upon hours doing nothing.
Tracked stats:
28 consecutive days of eating real food
28 consecutive days of no booze
25 days exercise
238 minutes meditation
6 hours reading
6 new things cooked
5.25 hours DJing
Yay, bettering oneself for the sake of betterment (or whatever)!
You guys, It’s been a month* I’ve now finished that Immaculata thing! BOOM!
This might sound lame (or maybe completely obvious?), but I can’t recommend a month without booze and a focus on exercise and eating right and reading and creating things enough. I feel pretty great / strong / calm.
I’m not sure when the next Immaculata will take place, but you can watch here for details. I really think you should join.

* I’m wraping up my month a few days early because I’m about to leave town for some R&R. Yeah, they’ll be a few drinks there.
BOOM! Week THREE of that Immaculata thing: done!
Still eating right, having no booze, did 6 days of exercise this week, farting around with meditation (now it might be working as good?), and turned that XX beat into a full on remix in Ableton.
1 weeks to go and - not to sound like a complete smug prick - I’m feeling great. I’m gonna finish this thing in ship-shape. Although, I keep day dreaming about burritos. Weird, right?
BOOM! Week two of that Immaculata thing: done!
Still eating right, having no booze, doing 5 days of exercise, farting around with meditation (ummm, it might actually work?), and I’ve made a few interesting things in Ableton (last night I was trying to use an En Vouge acapella as percussion in a dubstep beat).
2 weeks to go and I think I got this… assuming a scotch truck doesn’t spring a leak out front of my apartment.
Also: I made a downloadable mixtape for the Immaculata team. You might want to download it too. Kewl tunes from the last decade or so (and an obligatory Fleetwood Mac song for good measure).
BOOM! I’ve finished week one of that Immaculata thing, guys… and I’m feeling pretty good. Eating right, no booze, 6 days of exercise, meditation (I know, give me a break, right?), and a mandate on creating stuff in Ableton.
3 weeks to go and if I can shake getting cold shivers after work on Fridays because my body is ITCHING for a drink… I think I can do this.
New years resolutions are sooooo stupid… but this is pretty good and seems to be coming from a place of humor and common sense (the whole thing is orchestrated by Jamie Flam of Lunchboxing / that Tapatio youtube clip I like fame).
Basically, it’s a 30 day break from booze/drugs/junk with a replacement focus on eating well, exercising, and working on creative projects. It’s been dubbed an “Immaculata“… because, ummm, why not?
I’m signing up for this because I partied so hard (by my old man standards) two nights ago that the upper half of my face turned red. And I’d like to not feel like ass when my birthday hits at month’s end. And I’d like to finish recording my little electro EP thinggy I’ve been toying with for, like, ever.
Someone sign up with me, I’ll be your one person support group when you start shivering for bourbon. Do it! Please?
