The Straight: Why Madonna still matters Dear The Straight, Madonna doesn’t matter, and hasn’t since the days of her Erotica album.  Just because she’s getting divorced doesn’t make her relevant.  Just because she’s reinvented herself 1,000 times doesn’t mean she’s relevant.  Just because she’s (sorta) recently released another pro-tools supreme uptempo pop album doesn’t make her relevant.  Remember: there are women half her age making similar music 10 times as exciting. She’s a modern day Cher, holding on for grim death. I realize that you’ve got working relationships with the major labels, and that you’re going to cover a lot of thier artists in a positive light, but could you at least do a bit of full disclosure at the start of your articles saying, “WARNING, LAZY WRITING BELOW”. That seems fair to me.
