Last night, we saw Graham Clark and Dave Shumka perform/host/record a live episode of Stop Podcasting Yourself as a part of the YYComedy Festival in Calgary. It was completely great.
One of the things that Graham referenced during the show was the “Hello Calgary” video clips that Channels 2&7 used to play nonstop at the end of commercial breaks in the 80’s. I spent my early years in Calgary and remember them vividly (well as vividly as a very young child can remember).
What I didn’t know was that these spots weren’t some custom-made heartfelt tribute to Calgary, rather there was some company somewhere belting these out for local TV affiliates all over North America. There was “Hello Calgary”, but there was also “Hello Buffalo”, “Hello Milwaukee”, etc.
So now I’m trying to track these clips down to see if they really exist. I’ve SCOURED YouTube (well, for like 4 minutes) trying to find them, but have had no luck.
Has anyone ever seen these alternative clips? If so, links pls.
