Rebecca Ramone - The Flood [mp3]
A long, long time a go when I played in a bunch of local bands I was fortunate enough to share the stage with with Rebecca. I, obviously, retired from the musician thing years ago, but Rebecca kept at it.
She’s now based out of Toronto and going strong. She sent me a copy of her new album and it’s wonderfully aggressive in all the right places. Her sound has moved away from glossy and in to gritty territory. There’s some fire there… and that’s a good thing.
Her bio positions her as sounding like “The Black Keys with a chick” but there’s a bit more nuance to it. I also hear some The Kills and/or Black Mountain brooding too. Either way, it’s enjoyable.
Oh, and the album’s on iTunes for $5.
