GREVANCE I WISH TO FILE WITH THE FASHION POLICE: This whole Banana Republic/Mad Men sales and marketing effort. Simply put, the actual suits they’re trying to sell aren’t even remotely vintage in design or true to the style of the 60’s.  The garment pictured above is called a Modern Fit suit ferchristssakes.  Pairing a standard single-breasted suit with a skinny tie and a goofy hat isn’t cool, interesting, or exciting. With all of that said, when I was in Hong Kong last fall I went to Sam’s Tailor and had a couple of suits custom made.  I basically handed them a bunch of pictures of Pete Campbell and said, “make me look like this, please”.  And they did.  And the suits look great and are built to last.  I’m not pointing this out to boast, rather, to let Banana Republic the know that they’re doin’ it wrong*. *Yes, Banana Republic, the store, reads my blog.
