Man, the Arcade Fire concert experience has changed so much since they played the Commodore six years ago.
There’s now Beatles-esque admiration complete with constant fan screaming and quarter note hand clapping. There are all walks of life at the show now too. My two favorite types were the girls dressed liked bar stars (nice, 4 inch stilettos! very functional for a show) and the folk-fest hippies dancing violently (completely off-beat, possibly to a different song).
At this point, I could be a curmudgeon and complain about how dramatically things have changed, but you know what, fuck that… I say bravo. It’s great that this band has moved from indie darling to a band that has global recognition and can actually make a real living doing what they’re passionate about. Plus, people really seem to be committed and love these guys. This is kinda amazing considering how disposable music has become.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that I forgot how good Funeral was until I saw it performed live last night. Good times.
